What is a liquidation auction?
When retailers and online sellers end up with more stock than they can sell, they move it out in bulk. That includes overstock, shelf pulls, customer returns and discontinued items. Liquidators like AK Lots buy that merchandise by the pallet, break it down into individual lots, and auction it off so you can buy one item at a time.
The result: furniture, appliances, tools, home goods and more, often for well under retail. Because it is liquidation stock, condition varies and items sell as-is. Some lots are new in the box. Others are open-box returns.
How bidding works at AK Lots
- A new auction every week. Our auctions run online on HiBid, and new lots are added every day.
- No reserve. Every lot starts at $5 and sells to the highest bidder. There is no hidden minimum.
- Max bidding. Enter the most you will pay. HiBid bids for you only as much as needed to keep you in the lead.
- Soft close on Sunday. Bidding begins closing Sunday at 6 PM CST. A bid placed near the end adds time to that lot, so nobody can snipe it in the last second.
Most bidding happens in the last few hours before the close. A lot sitting at $5 on Saturday often sells for more on Sunday night, so set the max you are comfortable with and let HiBid do the work.
What you will actually pay
Your winning bid is not your final total. At AK Lots, checkout adds:
- 15% buyer's premium on the winning bid
- Texas sales tax, unless you have an approved resale certificate on file
- 3% processing fee if you pay by credit or debit card
Example: you win a lot at $40. The buyer's premium adds $6, then sales tax applies, then 3% if you pay by card. Build that into your max bid.
How to bid smarter
- Read every description. Some listings use stock photos. The description tells you what is actually in the lot.
- Preview in person. You can see upcoming lots at our Hutto warehouse during open hours before you bid.
- Plan your pickup. Know whether the item fits your vehicle. Our crew helps you load.
- Set a budget for the night. Soft close is exciting. Decide your max per lot ahead of time.
After you win
Winners get an invoice by email Sunday night. Pickup in Hutto starts Monday: Monday to Friday 12 PM to 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM. You have 6 calendar days after settlement to pick up. Many lots can also be shipped on a separate invoice, and shipping orders go out at the end of the week. See pickup & shipping for details.
